  • The audible phase is new. That didn't happen last time. Or the time before. I'm going to cautiously suggest this might be a different situation than the regular 18-month cycle. I still have a personal theory but I'm still not sharing it.

  • For what it's worth, this happens on Crale about every 18 months. Last time was late 2024. It peaks around week 4, holds for a few days, and then dissipates overnight. Nobody's ever gotten a definitive explanation. The city's official position, if you can find it on their website (good luck), is "seasonal atmospheric expression." My personal theory involves the storm drain system but I've been told to stop sharing my personal theories.

  • The Consumer Aftereffects hold music is the one that sounds like someone playing a theremin inside a shipping container, right? That means you're in the right queue. If it sounds like smooth jazz being performed underwater, they routed you back to general intake.

  • The non-emergency line IS the same line. There's no separate number. They triage based on how long you're willing to wait. The theory is that if it's not an emergency, you'll hold longer. Two hours in, you're probably close. Also, if the recall is for a can you already used, you should be filing with Consumer Aftereffects, not Product Advisory. Different queue. Different hold music. Much worse.

  • For the record, Morvek's just called me. They do not normally call me. They asked if I "knew the ice person" and whether the situation had been "resolved to everyone's satisfaction." When I said I didn't know any details they said "that's probably for the best" and hung up. Whatever this was, I hope it went well.

  • Morvek's on Thayle Street does same-day for bulk orders over 100 lbs. Call before noon. They'll ask what it's for and you don't have to answer but they will ask.

  • The "No" descriptor was added in 2023 after an incident on the south side that the water authority still refers to as "the event of June 14th" without further elaboration. If your water ever tastes like "No," don't drink it. Don't pour it out either. Call the emergency line. Which is the same line. You know the drill.

  • Grelmire Municipal Water Authority does free testing for residents, once per calendar year. Call the main line and ask for a Test Kit Dispatch. They'll send someone out with collection vials within a week. Standard panel covers chemical, microbial, and basic spatial stability. If you want dimensional contaminant screening specifically, that's an add-on. 30 credits. It's worth it if you're near any of the anchor installations on the east side, which you probably are if you're in Grelmire.
